I was on the fence about reading this because I am not a big fan of vampire books but a friend told me I should read it because I would love it. I decided to download it and take a chance and I loved it. It is a quick read, if you have an hour in a day you should be able to read it all. Keep in mind that the story continues into a second book that is not out yet so if you don't like to wait to continue the story you might want to hold off till March. This story has to do with a daughter who witnesses her mother being killed by a vampire and she decides that it is her goal in life to get revenge on the vampire that killed her mother. In order to do this she goes against her father's wishes and joins the Shadowborne Academy. While at the Academy she meets Jax's whom is not what he seems. Nobody is quite who they seem to be in this short first book of Shadowborne. The characters are complex and there's a great deal of backstory to be revealed. I'm very interested to see where the next book takes us.
Great story of vampires and maybe love. It a short story but is differently worth the read. Im looking forward to the next part.

An easy quick read, Ash is a young vampire hunter trying to find her way in this role. Jax isn't who he appears to be and it cause her mixed emotions. I am curious where this story will go, this book leaves you with a lot of unanswered questions, looking forward to the next book in the series.
She lost her mother as a young teen, her father was part of the blame. Now over 18 she was chosen to become a student of Shadowborn because she survived the vampire. But her new roommate Jax has a secret and when she finds out what his is, she will have to choose, revenge or payback. Quick and easy to follow along.
While the premise of this was solid and a grand idea, the execution was missing of the mark. There were some spelling errors and the book seemed rushed.
I did enjoy the premise and I would like to see where it was going in the next book.
